EDS Dive In to Help Save MV Balmoral
The MV Balmoral is a 62-metre vintage excursion ship owned by the preservation charity MV Balmoral Fund Ltd. The Vessel built in Southampton back in 1949 has spent most of its life operating a summer season of excursions around the Bristol Channel, with visits to most areas of the UK. However, the ship has not sailed since late 2017 as it requires major hull plating work and is currently moored in Bristol Harbour.
EDS were commissioned by the fund to carry out a hull dive survey and report on the general condition and record any defects of the hull, propellers, rope guards and rudders.
Dave Bassett, MV Balmoral fund Limited Trustee hopes the Vessel will be up and running again once repairs and refurbishment have taken place to the Hull and the accommodation on board. He believes that the ship is unique and the preservation of the ship is important for future generations.
