As framework suppliers of diving services to Dwr Cymru Welsh Water, EDS were approached by our client to support them in delivering a challenging dam pipework project at a reservoir in Mid Wales.

A problem with a pipeline through one of their major infrastructure dams had led to the establishment of a dedicated project team and EDS became part of the solution by working closely within this team to design a safe and effective pipework isolation. A combination of challenges such as deep diving, differential pressure danger zones, limited bottom time and difficult access for standard plant and machinery were all planned into the risk assessed methodology. A number of contingency plans were also implemented to ensure the safe execution of the work.

The job was completed successfully and EDS were proud to work closely with DCWW and their partners to develop this engineered method of safe dam pipework isolation.
